Identity Theft, Ten % of Americans will become victims this year

There is a large and growing problem in the United States today. The problem is Identity Theft. More and more people are on various different data bases.

With current economic situation in the world. People are even in more of risk to thieves stealing from them!!!

These Data Bases range from Social Security, IRS, Credit Card, Employment, Medical.

Think about it, how many different Data Bases have your personal information in them.

There are steps you can take to make yourself more secure!!

1. When filling some form on the Internet, only do the required fields.

2. If it is not an on going business relationship, that is important to you, Then kind of fudge on the truth.

3. Have a different E-Mail address for business and personal stuff.

4. Use a verification engine for verifying the website.

5. If not going to be using computer for a bit, make sure that when screen saver comes up the computer locks, so you need to enter your password to get back in!!! Make the password a tough one to break. The previous is a hard one, but it keeps neighborhood kids and co-workers out.

6. Think outside the Box The other day I got an email which said somebody had left me over 3 Million Dollars as an inheritance. The letter was basically addressed to occupant. Do you think it was a SCAM. Or maybe trying to do an Identity Theft!!

If you use Yahoo mail in the bottom right corner of each E-Mail is a line which reads full headers. Clicking this will show where the E-Mail came from.

7. See if your credit card company can give a card with a number that is good for only 1 transaction for an online purchase. When the merchant verifies the card number it will come up as good.

I have presented the problem of Identity Theft, if I do not present a solution to the problem. Then I think it is counter productive, at the bottom of this page is a link ( On the right hand side of page) to a company that has a solution. I like the solution, they seem to put there money where their mouth is!

At first I was going to sign up as an affiliate, in hopes of make a few bucks. They sent me an 8 page contract to sign an fax back to them.

I understand why they did it, it was it protect themselves from scam artists and their ilk. At my age, it galled me, I grew up in a different time, when the first thing you presume is that a persons word is their bond. So I have not become an affiliate, whether you like what you see an buy or not. I do not make a dime from it either way. Return to Home Page
