Anti-SpyWare, The Fourth Layer in Home Computer Defense Concept
The next piece in the puzzle in the Defensive Layering of your computer, is Anti-SpyWare.
If you have Windows XP operating system, you may have gotten Windows Defender about a year ago. It was free then I do not know what has happened with it since then. I do know that about once a week, it is updated. I have the Automatic updates set on my computer. It only checks about 70% of the number of files that my free one does. So my guess is that it only checks Microsoft stuff.
The Free one I have now has 881,050 signatures of SpyWare in its Data Base. It has caught 476 pieces of something from the Bad Guy
One of the big problems is caused by Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications. It is used by about 90% of the computers in the world. So if you are a BAD GUY it only makes sense to exploit them, as the programming will follow a predictable flow pattern. So if you find a loop hole or a back door, then you can get in.
